In Aramaic, the word Hallel means “praise” and forms the joyful acclamation of praise to Yahweh, “Hallelu-Yah“, “Alleluia“.
It also refers to the Hallel Psalm (Psalms 113 through 118). Lord Jesus concluded the Last Supper by singing the Hallel Psalm with his closest friends.
Hallel Institute is the legal name of the not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporation registered in New York State in 1974.
Hallel is also a “private association of the faithful” in the Catholic Church. Its members share the gift of community friendship and contribute to the evangelization of the world through means of social communications.
Hallel brings together people representing the diversity and richness of the people of God. Their responsibilities are at times different, yet they have equal opportunity to share in Hallel life and mission.
Although originally founded as a private association of the Roman Catholic Church, Hallel seeks to establish the bonds of friendship with other Christian Churches and other religions.
We believe that there is no greater love than to lay down our lives for each other just as Jesus offered up his life for us. In Hallel “love to the end” is a real and ultimate challenge to live a service-oriented existence.
We venerate and love the glorious Mother of our Lord under the title of “Mother of Divine Tenderness” (“Eleousa”). We ask her to draw us into her own unique, intimate union with Jesus.
